Kentucky Music Trail

Kentucky is more than bluegrass — it’s a living, breathing mixtape of genres and generations. In collaboration with Visit Ashland and Team Kentucky, Prolific set out to establish the Kentucky Music Trail: a statewide initiative designed to honor the past while amplifying the sounds of today and promoting discovery of the state’s musical legacy. From building the brand from the ground up to launching a fully integrated campaign, we helped transform a concept into a cultural movement.

The Challenge

Bring to life a statewide music initiative celebrating Kentucky’s soundscape — past, present, and future.

What We Did:

Brand Identity

We built a full brand identity system from the ground up — logo, typography, color palette, visual language — designed to honor Kentucky’s musical roots while striking a modern, genre-defying tone.

Website

We designed and developed a custom website that acts as the digital front door for the Trail — merging storytelling, discovery tools, and seamless UX to guide users through locations, sounds, and trip planning.

Digital Passport

We created an interactive, mobile-first passport experience that gamifies travel across the Trail — encouraging check-ins, rewarding exploration, and tracking user milestones with ease and delight.

Campaign Development

From big-picture messaging to activation strategy, we developed a campaign that lived across digital, print, and out-of-home — built to drive awareness, tourism, and cultural pride across Kentucky.

Out-of-Home

We designed bold, eye-catching OOH creative — from roadside billboards to downtown signage — to meet audiences in real life with visuals that turn heads and celebrate the sound of place.

UX & Content Strategy

We mapped the user journey from first click to road trip — ensuring that the experience was intuitive, engaging, and aligned with traveler mindsets. Our content strategy connected emotion with action, making the Trail easy to explore and impossible to forget.
